FIRST INTERNATIONAL CHOIR FESTIVAL AVGUSTA TRAYANA 26 – 30 April 2017

Venue: Drama Theatre, Stara Zagora, additional concerts – Regional History Museum, Art Gallery, Stara Zagora Organizers: Town Council, Stara Zagora; Community of Culture (Chitalishte)“Rodina-1860”, Mixed Choir “Rodina”.

 Partners: Bulgarian National Radio, Stara Zagora; Music Society “Boris Hristov” Stara Zagora; Regional History Museum, Art Gallery. Aims - Cultural exchange and cooperation between Bulgarian and foreign choirs and their conductors - Incorporation and promotion of the Bulgarian and European choral art values - Popularization of the choral singing and musical traditions of Stara Zagora - Repertoire and experience exchange among the choirs - Opportunity for creative performances and enrichment of the city cultural events.

2. Categories
 Choir (20 and more performers)
  Chamber choir (from 13 to 19 performers)
 Vocal ensembles (from 2 to 12 performers)

3. Performance requirements
 Youth, homogeneous, mixed and chamber choirs – not more than 20 minutes long.

 4. Participation programme Participants’ performing programme is of their choice – baroque, classical, folklore, church, popular or contemporary music.

The final programme of the festival is compiled by the organizers on the base of the applications and is submitted to the choirs 10 days before the beginning of the event.

The organizers reserve the right of changes in the programme and the additional concerts.


5. The deadline to submit application forms is 01.02.2017.

They should include: - A high quality photo of the choir and separately a photo of the choir conductor - A choir recording or a link into an internet website where they can be heard

6. Once the application form is received, the organizers send back an Official Invitation. After receiving it, the choirs should pay 20% of the sum due for their stay in the frames of the festival. The deposit should be transferred to the bank account of the festival in Euros. The rest of the sum should be paid cash on arrival. 7. The choirs have to bring a sign with the name of the choir on it for the defile and a national flag.

 8. Accommodation Possible accommodation in Stara Zagora hotels with special discount for the festival participants is arranged by the organizers.

The price is for accommodation in 3*, 4* or 5* hotels per person.

9. All participants receive a Diploma and a plaque of Avgusta Trayana.
